Annual Report

"T he Aparant group was formed by certain netizens from the Kobraweb and Chitpavan groups on Yahoo. The initial members were pre-dominantly from Pune. They started by meeting infrequently at Mantri Park, near Nal Stop, Pune. The initial attendance was meager. Later the members' attendance increased and the group started meeting at Hotel Swekar in the last week of December' 02. Since then group has been meeting every Sunday. At present group is meeting at DeMech House, Law College Road.The number has grown to 35+.

It was during one of the regular Sunday meetings that the group decided to have an identification of our own Many names were suggested and finally the group decided on Aparant. Aparant means the land of Konkan region. Since all of us
belong to that region, it was felt it was an apt name connoting the roots of our group. If the roots are strong, then the tree can grow healthy and grow in height. It our endeavor to build an Institution built on the trust of our fellow members.

If the base Institution is strong and firm, then our allied Institutions and groups can scale new highs. The basic idea of Aparant is that of the Banyan tree with wide span and plenty of foliage, thus indicating depth and spread of activities with the support of a number of members"
